11 days to go until the festival

Ukitopia Festival only 11 days to go…..

On the weekend of November 14 and 15 the quiet village of Uki will come to life with the annual Ukitopia Festival. “It’s a celebration of Uki life arts and culture “, Ukitopia Arts Collective President/festival organiser, Natascha Wernick explained.

The Ukitopia festival, in its second year, is a two day event where the wholeof the Uki and district community gets involved with creating the space and has an opportunity to celebrate its year. This is a free community event organised by the Ukitopia Arts Collective a non-profit organisation.

“The festival is fully funded by the fundraising done over the year by Ukitopia Arts Collective, memberships and donations, “event organiser Natascha Wernick explained. “ Donation of around $10 or more will be gratefully accepted at the festival to contribute to the costs.”

“Last year it was a one day event and the village was absolutely filled to capacity. This year we have extended the festival over two days and with the Uki Public School and The Uki Kids Club: OOSH involved there will be more space, more parking and more for kids.”

The festival begins on the Saturday afternoon with live music on the main stage from 3pm with Lacey, Yeshe, James Higgins and creative community space making including a wishing wall, lantern and flag making.  James Higgins is doing a interactive music workshop and Kitsiri will be holding an extreme dance workshop to get you ready for the dancing on Saturday night.

Saturday evening as the day cools the night comes alive with the Opening of the Images of Uki art exhibition ( 6pm) , funky dancing music on the main stage with Mystic Beats, Imandan, Dj Pulse and Dj Dakini. For who wish for a quieter evening  there will be a concert featuring intimate acoustic performances by talented singer songwriters  in the historic Anglican church with Loren , Andrea Soler, Richard Bell and Josie Forest.   Children will be delighted by Rainbow Eagle Sparkle Land as well as circus and fire performances in the hall park.

On Sunday, the festivities begin at 9am with a special community singing in the Anglican church,  the Buttery Bazaar Markets, live music on two stages, street performances and Uki’s first “Eco Expo” where local eco businesses promote their businesses in the Uki Public School grounds.  Performances include : Andy Holm, Bernie Van Teil, Bill Jacobi, Bonnie and Eliza Acrobatics, Carmelia and friends Jazz trio, Fiddler Creek Children’s theatre, Domini Forster,  Peace Brother,  The Pitts Family Circus, Ilan, Johnathon Harvey, Perch Creek Jug Band, Loren, Martin Proctor, Michele Thomas Acrobatic, Ron Cox, Deya Dova, Hoopla Circus.
